In Our Galleries

Every year, Burroughs invites alumni artists to show their work to coincide with Alumni Week/Weekend. Featured in the Bonsack Gallery was Jon Bunge's Presence, an immersive installation in which the gallery is transformed with black fabric covering the walls, windows and entrance, enabling viewers to concentrate on shadows cast from nearly two dozen suspended sculptures made from branches.

Michael Marshall's hung in the Kuehner Gallery. Recollection: In Celebration With the Class of '71 features black and white drawings and large scale colorful monoprints made by the artist, a professor of art and chair of the department of art at the University of Hawai'i at Hilo.

On Loan is Andy Millner's Floating World (Rider). This 78" x 81" work is a pigment print on mulberry paper mounted to linen featuring a silhouette of a rider on horseback and layers of botanical drawings. Millner, who is based in St. Louis, creates work based on natural patterns (often tree leaves, branches and roots) using digital art tools.

Curved Wall features Eric Nauman's Shiny New Thing. The artist has created an installation by covering the curved wall with handmade wallpaper and three painted canvases, evoking a Pop Art aesthetic. Nauman, another local artist, is both a painter and a sculptor.

With the exception of the Bonsack Gallery, which is curated by Donya Allison (Fine Arts), our displayed art is curated by our Fine Arts Advisory Committee, which is comprised of alumni, parents and friends who are also fine arts faculty, artists, gallery owners, collectors, historians, curators and docents. In addition to adding more than 150 pieces to our permanent collection, including works by Christine Corday, Damon Davis, Tom Friedman '83, Jane Hammond, Ernest Trova and many others, the FAAC regularly curates shows on campus and oversees our annual Art for Breakfast event each spring.
