Holiday Program & Winterlude 2025

The Burroughs community celebrated the season on Thursday, December 18, with two performances of the annual holiday program. The school orchestra and choirs were led by Anita Hagerman, Chris Thomas, and Peter Sykes.

Alex Brooks '26, Lilly Tourville '26, Perla Eidson '26, and Will Tao '26 read from Isaiah 55:12, as well as the works of Alfred, Lord Tennyson, Mark Strand, Joy Harjo, Sara Teasdale, Mary Oliver, Matthew Battles. The program also included an original piece, "Subnivean" written by JBS alum Kamau Walker '16; the full text of his piece will be printed in the next Reporter.

The live tableau, designed by Lexi Schoenecker '26 and lit by Molly Kreitman '26, featured a student cast that included Cate Kiley '26, Corbin Riley '26, Maddie Williams '26, William Akins '31, and Claire Otto '31. Mara Kniep '26 sang the senior solo.

The holiday program was directed by John Pierson (Performing Arts), with help from production managers Erin Knadler and Joe Novak (Performing Arts), costumer Carla Landis Evans, and production crew members Molly Kreitman '26 and Adi Veeramachaneni '27. The program cover art was designed by Olivia Lu '26.

Between the performances, members of the Burroughs community gathered in the Commons for the annual Winterlude reception.
