Holiday Food Drive 2024

Holiday Food Drive 2024

The Burroughs community rallied together once again for the Montgomery Plan's annual holiday food drive, collecting more than 8,000 pounds of canned goods, perishable items, and household necessities, as well as nearly $700 in financial contributions, to help Isaiah 58 Ministries stock its food pantry.

The drive kicked off in early December, when 45 students and three faculty members volunteered to collect donations at area Straub's stores. Then, during the Common Period on Wednesday, December 11, students met in advisory to participate in the sculpture competition, showcasing their collective creativity by designing sculptures made from the canned goods.

The food drive wrapped up Friday, December 20, when 23 students, five faculty members, and two members of the Plant Ops team spent the first day of winter break labeling over 200 boxes of donations (including perishable items from FLIK, our food service provider), loading them up, and delivering to Isaiah 58's South City food pantry. The group then helped the nonprofit serve guests as part of its holiday food distribution.
