Black History Month Concert: Anita Jackson

On Thursday, February 6, Burroughs hosted its annual Black History Month Concert in the Commons. The event celebrated Black musical heritage through powerful performances highlighting artistic expression.

Renowned vocalist Anita Jackson, a St. Louis native, showcased her "Life is Beautiful" project, which reflects a long tradition in Black culture of finding and creating beauty even in life’s most challenging moments. The evening also featured several student performances, including a tribute to Ella Fitzgerald by Sarah Brown '25, a rendition of Andra Day's "Rise Up" by Ricco Martin '27, and an original spoken word piece by Brooke Jones '26 and Sabie Witt '26.
