Burroughs' fiscal year runs July 1 through June 30.

It's easy to give online through this giving platform but you can also give in other ways:

There are many ways to financially support students, faculty and staff at Burroughs. Giving opportunities through the endowment, scholarships, special funds and campus improvements can be found on our website.

When you include Burroughs in your estate plan, you can direct your gift to a specific program or purpose. Thank you for ensuring that JBS can prepare our graduates to change the world well into the future.

Gift matching is an easy way to increase the value of your charitable gift through your employer. Your impact to Burroughs may be doubled or possibly tripled!  If you or your partner qualify for a matching gift, please reach out to the contact at your company (usually HR) to inquire on the process.

The federal government allows you to deduct a charitable donation to a qualified organization if you don’t get anything in return for the donation. 

For 2023, the new threshold is 60 percent of Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) for cash contributions held for over a year, and 30 percent of AGI for non-cash assets. The standard deduction is now higher to account for inflation, rising to $12,950 for people who file individually and $25,900 for married couples who file joint returns.

The Annual Fund is a source of unrestricted funding that comprises 10% of the annual operating budget. The Annual Fund makes up the difference between the cost of tuition and the actual expense of sending a student to school, which for the 2023-24 school year is a gap of $4,400.

Alumni, parents, grandparents and friends all contribute to the Annual Fund every year.

Last year, 30% of alumni, 90% of current parents, 18% of parents of alumni and 30% of grandparents collectively gave $3 million.

The Burroughs Endowment was established in the 1970s and investment income is a perpetual source of revenue that supports the school's operation budgets, specific academic programs, professional development, tuition aid, and more. Gifts to the endowment are under professional management and we draw approximately 4.2% from the investment which provides 12% of our annual operating revenue. Gifts to the Burroughs endowment help us hire and retain the best faculty and control tuition increases. Donors often direct estate gifts to the endowment to establish new funds or to augment existing funds.

The endowment supports scholarships, faculty salaries, academic programming, and campus maintenance. Endowed scholarships support tuition aid; endowed faculty chairs and directorships support excellence in teaching and robust professional development; and endowed funds to support academic programming across the six pillars of education: the Humanities, STEM, the Arts, Athletics, Health & Wellness, Global Awareness & Cultural Competency, and Service & Sustainability.

Pending funding, we anticipate future capital projects to improve our current facilities. All of these projects are just beginning; if one or more of these interests you, we invite you to consider making your gift a challenge gift to encourage others to also support these much-needed renovations. Eighty percent of project costs must be raised in donations before beginning any new capital improvements.
