Class of 1995

We can’t believe that it’s been 25 years since our high school graduation. We feel like it was just yesterday when we sat down in the front row of morning assembly as seventh graders. Working and raising our own families, locally or out of town, we all can appreciate the value of our shared Burroughs educational experience.

Susie Wilson

A message of thanks from Susie Wilson to the class of 1995.

Sadly, we couldn’t come together this fall to celebrate our 25th reunion but we look forward to being together in the fall of 2021, hopefully unmasked! Virtual Alumni Weekend was a huge success and you can still view the events on the website. From a tiny desk concert featuring fifteen alumni artists to cyber security to artificial intelligence to a cooking class – the talent within the Burroughs alumni community is impressive! Two of our own classmates received Alumni Awards for 2020 and they will be honored in the fall of 2021.

In honor of our 25th reunion we would like to give back to Burroughs with a class gift. All of you remember Susie Wilson, the loving face of Burroughs, who welcomed us every day in the front office. Mrs. Wilson retired last year after 32 years to be with her 104 year old mother. With genuine warmth, she connected and cared for people, from current or prospective students to the president of the Parents Council to a long-out-of-touch alum to the mail carrier. We all benefited from her enthusiastic encouragement, supporting hugs and excused pink slip when running late. A scholarship was established in her name and as a class we can grow that scholarship together. Twenty-six percent of students – 167 total – are on financial aid with families requesting more support during this uncertain healthcare climate. Tuition aid, more than $3.8 million this year, is extremely important in keeping within the school’s mission of maintaining a diverse and equitable student body.

This is a unique appeal for your charitable support of Burroughs. We gently request that you consider a class gift to the Susie Wilson Scholarship Fund in addition to what you may already contribute to the Burroughs Annual Fund. Alumni support of the Annual Fund provides essential operating support, and we do not want to erode that base of funding for Burroughs.

We miss you and look forward to hearing from you! We know that the class of 1995 will come together and show our Bomber pride.

Your loyal 25th reunion committee,

Todd Kaye                                 Geoff Ratliff                                   Christie Kerckhoff Vatterott
