This morning, seniors gathered in the Newman Auditorium for a visit from Kamau Walker '16. Kamau shared selections of his poetry, walked students through his creative process, and took thoughtful questions — offering an honest look at how science, art, curiosity, and lived experience intersect in his work.
A St. Louis native and Burroughs alum, Kamau went on to study ecology and evolutionary biology at Yale University, conduct research abroad, teach science back on campus, and is now completing his MFA in poetry at The University of Virginia. An accomplished writer, teacher, and performer — currently working on his first poetry collection — Kamau’s return to Burroughs was both inspiring and deeply meaningful. A true “quiet warrior,” and one to watch.
