Puffs, or Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic and Magic

Middle schoolers presented Puffs, or Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic and Magic on May 13 and 14.

The show, a 2015 original play by American playwright Matt Cox, featured plenty of magical adventures. Puffs has been praised for its comedy and staging, and was nominated for the Off-Broadway Alliance Award for "Best Unique Theatrical Experience" in 2017. 

A number of seventh and eighth graders performed in the cast of Puffs — as listed in the program: Finn Hohenberg ’27, Teddy Hollander-Bodie ’26, Iris Sommer ’26, Charlotte Kaye ’26, Perla Eidson ’26, Cate Kiley ’26, Taisei Tseng ’27, Alice Craig ’27, Alexander Edelman ’27, Daisy Lazaroff ’27, Abby Albrecht ’27, Delali Suggs-Akaffu ’27, Ricco Martin Jr. ’27, Yuktha Rayani ’26, Elijah Riker ’27, Caroline Nelson ’26, Sylvia Andrews ’27, Rafe Rosario-Blake ’26, Kenley Satcher ’26, Julia Burr ’27, Aria Langley ’27 and Nura Sharp ’27.

Puffs was directed by Sandy Chesterton ’15 (Mathematics), with help from assistant director Maddy Pass ’23. The set and projection was designed by Erin Knadler (Theatre, Speech & Dance). Lighting design was by Anne Grace Hooper ’22. Carla Landis Evans was the costume designer. Technical direction was by Joe Novak (Theatre, Speech & Dance). Jayla Pruitt ’26 and Wren Wolfgram ’25 served as the production stage managers, and Molly Kiley ’27 was the assistant stage manager. More than a dozen middle school students also assisted as stage hands, with set construction and with operating the light and sound boards during the show.
