"Front" ~ Fall Play
On Friday, October 25 and Saturday, October 26, JBS Performing Arts presented Front. Set in London during the Blitz, this play tells the stories of individuals facing the horror and ruin of war as the front line arrives in England's capital. From the opening days of war with Nazi Germany, to the heights of the Blitz, the resolve of the United Kingdom and her subjects was strained to its absolute limit. Men were sent to fight; women were sent to factories; children were sent from their homes.
As the play unfolded, Judith (Abby Greenberg '20) coped with the departure of her husband, Frank (Shayfer Huitt '22), and struggled to shield her children, Tom (Patrick Whiteford '23) and Angie (Lauren Keeley '21), from the conflict. Others, including Joan Justice (Isabella Koster '20) and Mr. and Mrs. Briggs (Lindsey Steinkamp '20 and Adam Krekeler '20), watched their children (Jacob Tuteur '23and Christion Wynn '21) leave for a fight they might never return from. The rest of the cast included Lindsey Okafor '20, Simone Hoagland '21, Anne Grace Hooper '22, Libby Hizar '20, Mia Wood '23, Jacob Rackers '21, Andrew Herbster '22, Ithan Levy '21 and Quincy Battles (Drew Battles’ son).
Battles directed, Carla Landis Evans was the costume designer, and Joe Novak was in charge of the set, props and technical direction. Adina Cazacu-De Luca '20 designed the sound. Keerthana Madireddi '20 was the stage manager and AnnMarie O’Shea '21 was the assistant stage manager.
