As part of this year’s Community Engagement Week, 8th graders partnered with organizations across St. Louis to learn, serve, and make a difference. They supported Great Rivers Greenway and Kirkwood Park through environmental cleanup and habitat restoration projects, and explored advocacy and justice issues with representatives from Keyway Center for Diversion & Reentry and Missouri Appleseed. At LifeWise StL, students assembled personal care kits for community members in need.
Students welcomed guests from the ALS Association and participated in interactive learning stations, including creating holiday cards for families affected by the disease. Students also spent an afternoon watching Education, Interrupted, a documentary that tells the story of the unprecedented disruption in schooling caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. After the screening, students met with Aisha Sultan, the film's director.
