Centenarian Society

Congratulations to our Burroughs Centenarians! We are proud to recognize 23 Burroughs alumni who have reached the remarkable milestone of turning 100. The late Eric P. Newman ’28—who attended Burroughs on its very first day in 1923—was the group's eldest member, living to age 106. Phyllis White Cherbonnier ’39 (Chicago), at 103, is the oldest living member.

Three other alumni have also joined the Centenarian ranks: Beverly Black Keith-Howes ’42 (Santa Rosa, CA), Thelma Probstein Zalk ’42 (St. Louis) and Nancy Knight Outten ’43 (Woodstock, VT). Collectively, these 23 alumni represent 1.5% of Burroughs’ 1927–1943 graduating classes—a testament to their longevity and connection to our school’s early history.
