Tuition & Affordability

Burroughs is committed to supporting an economically diverse community and we don't want cost to stand in the way of applying or attending our school. Burroughs' tuition aid program is need-based. In the 2026-2027 school year, more than $5 million has been budgeted for tuition assistance and 25% of our students received aid.

Tuition for the 2026-2027 school year is $39,810. Books, athletic gear, and fees are approximately $1,000 each year. The tuition for the 2027-2028 school year will be determined in the spring.

We evaluate applicants based solely on their merit and potential. Only after admission decisions are made do we consider tuition assistance. This approach ensures that we enroll the most qualified students, regardless of their financial circumstances. No one should hesitate to apply due to financial concerns.

How to Apply for Tuition Aid

Burroughs is proud to use the Clarity Application to determine a family’s level of financial need based on the information that families share in the application which includes assets, income, expenses, and debts.

To get started, please go to the Clarity Application and create an account.

The application typically takes less than 30 minutes to complete. The Clarity Application is also mobile-friendly so you can complete it from anywhere. You are also able to save your progress and return at any time.

At the end of the application, there is a $60 fee to submit, and you can share your application with additional schools that accept the Clarity Application for no additional charge. Simply use the dropdown menu in the application to select those schools.

If you need support during the process of completing your application, there is in-app support available through the “Help” button in the bottom left of the screen, as well as email and phone support at support@clarityapp.com or (206) 210-3752, in both English and Spanish. The application itself is also fully translated into Spanish.

Tuition Aid Policies

Assistance is based solely on the family's financial budget. No honor, athletic, or artistic scholarships are awarded. Most families with incomes less than $150,000 receive some tuition aid. Most families with incomes of $80,000 or less receive substantial awards, from 75 to 100% of tuition.
Awards are made for one academic year; applicants for aid apply each year. Tuition assistance is typically renewed each year unless there is a significant change in the family's financial ability.
Assistance comes in the form of a grant (which does not need to be paid back).
Because no two families have the same financial needs, the Tuition Aid Committee is reluctant to use rigid guidelines in determining awards, and thus, it considers each application individually.
In cases of divorce or separation, the Tuition Aid Committee will consider the assets of both natural parents before making any award, and will not be bound by the assertion that one parent has disclaimed responsibility for educational expenses.
Remarriage of either parent creates a new family unit with new relationships. The noncustodial parent (and any spouse) must also file the necessary tuition aid forms.
