9th Grade

Introduction to College Counseling — Parents/Guardians
Introduce the JBS college search philosophy and process, what colleges look for as they make their decisions, test preparation, and timing, etc., with college counselors
College Athletics Symposium — Students/Parents/Guardians (alternate years)
Learn about collegiate athletic recruitment, including guidelines for specific sports, from JBS coaches

Advisory/Common Day Meetings — Students (through May)
Begin discussion of topics such as working with your college counselor, standardized testing, making the most of college visits, management of application platform (Cialfo), resumes, essay writing, requesting teaching recommendations, etc.; discuss timeline for college search/application process; learn to research colleges

Hold one-on-one conversations with college counselors; develop standardized test plan; discuss college visit strategy (especially for spring and summer breaks); and discuss course selection for senior year
