The Admission Process
 |
"It is wonderful to have
one of the nation's premier
schools available to the
families of St. Louis."
Elizabeth Gray Danforth, JBS '46
Past Parent/Current Grandparent
|
Applicants for September enrollment
should begin the admission process during the previous fall.
School visits, the admission interview, and the entrance exam
all take place from mid-October through mid-January. The Open
House in the fall includes a tour of the campus and a chance
to learn about the school from the headmaster, other administrators,
the faculty, and current students. Interested applicants are
encouraged to spend a morning with a current student, following
a regular class schedule. An interview will be scheduled after
the completion of the preliminary application; we value this
time to meet individually with each family. |

Applications and Financial Aid Packets
To receive an admission packet or financial aid information,
or to schedule a visit or an interview, call the Admission Office
at (314) 993-4040; or you may send your name, address, telephone
number, and your child's name and present grade in school by
e-mail to admiss@jburroughs.org;
or by fax to (314) 993-6458. |
Entrance Examination
For the convenience of applicants and their parents, Burroughs,
in cooperation with other area schools, offers a common entrance
examination at various locations in December and January. The
admission packet includes a calendar with exam dates and locations. |

Admission Decisions
The personal interviews, past school records, recommendations
from your school, and entrance exam results all factor into admission
decisions. Among the personal qualities that we value are a positive
self-image, a respect for others, and a sense of humor. Admission
decisions are mailed in mid-March. |
John Burroughs School makes all decisions concerning applicants,
students, faculty, and staff on the basis of the individual's
qualifications to contribute to Burroughs' educational objectives
and institutional needs. Discriminating against individuals on
the basis of race, color, gender, sexual orientation, religion,
age, national or ethnic origin, or disability unrelated to course
requirements is inconsistent with the purposes of the school.
