Potpourri has been a tradition at Burroughs for many years. Preparation for Potpourri begins right after the completed Potpourri each year. This year has been just as exciting as most. The sale started off with a pool table and video arcade game, Gauntlet Legends, on sale for the Burroughs community.

The Potpourri raffle started Monday with the theme of "Party Like a Rockstar." The parents got Mr. Abbott to dress up as Elvis on Monday, Dr. Shahan as Jimi Hendrix on Tuesday, and Dr. Heinzel as Sir Elton John on Wednesday which was amusing for the entire student body. The final and best prize of the week will be a laptop computer other prizes included a popcorn machine, drum-set, and tickets to the Santana concert. Wednesday morning assembly had a Potpourri fashion show in which seniors dressed up in strange outfits including Tee Rassier's tinkerbell outfit.

The start of the sale was Wednesday and books, CDs, movies, and clothes filled up the Commons. Students spent the day searching for the best treasures. The books include all genres including mysteries, bestsellers, and even cookbooks. A box of old yearbooks were also for sale. Students bought silly things like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle slippers and brightly colored pants.

Last year, a then sophmore girl, bought a pearl necklace for $70 which was appraised for $2000. The food is always something students look forward to. Thursday and Friday everything from cotton candy to past and pizza is available. Last year the school also had Dippin' Dots ice cream which is surely to be just as popular this year. The sale begins on Friday for those who have vouchers in the morning and the rest of the students at 3 pm. On Saturday the sale opens to the public at 7:30 and ends at 1:30. Every year hundreds of people flock to the sale. This year there was a record number of donations, even a stove, ensuring the sale's success.
