Remember: Pack in Plastic Bags in Anticipation of Wet Canoes
and Rain.
Clothes:
Pack your gear with the understanding that the weather at this
time of year is highly variable. As always, layers
are key: you're responsible for keeping yourself warm and dry
and only you know what this requires--anticipate cold and wet
conditions!
As we say in Outdoor education--"cotton kills"--whenever possible substitute wool or fleece for cotton clothes!!
long sleeve shirt
2 pair long pants (wool or quick drying, if possible)
shorts (quick drying, if possible)
2 tee-shirts or the synthetic equivalent
wool socks (polypropylene liner socks are optional yet always
appreciated)
underwear (conventional and long or insulated)
wool sweater or fleece equivalent
jacket or heavy polar fleece outer layer
waterproof shell or poncho
bandana
2 pair shoes: river shoes camp shoes (boots best)
cold weather hat and gloves; sun-hat
swimsuit and towel
extra plastic bag or two for wet clothes and wet shoes
Supplies:
Let me know if you need anything . With sufficient
notice (at least 72 hours), we can supply whatever equipment
you need.
a backpack is not necessary for this trip
flashlight, spare batteries
eating kit: bowl, mug, flatware
one liter, plastic water container (no soda!)
toiletries (minimum); SUNSCREEN
sleeping bag suitable for cold weather and pad
optional supplies:
tent (I need to know if you need a tent)
journal, camera, reading (please no homework)
toilet paper; zip-loc bag for packing-out toilet paper
Food:
Please bring $15 to cover the cost of food on the road
trip there and back
Please bring an additional $10 for purchasing group food
supplies
All our meals will be prepared by the group. This list is recommended--amend
as you please.
