Welcome to New Faculty and Staff
Burroughs welcomes 11 new teachers and administrative staff for the 2010-11 school year.

Mary Bieker joins the Business Office as assistant business manager and as manager of the JBS bookstore. Ms. Bieker, who holds a bachelor's degree in accounting from Maryville University, comes most recently from Turnkey Technologies, Inc., where she was business manager/senior consultant since 1998.
Ryan Bolinger joins the Music Department as an assistant seventh and
eighth grade chorus teacher and part-time accompanist. Mr. Bolinger
holds bachelor's degrees in music education and piano performance from
Southeast Missouri State University. He is the music director at Our
Lady of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Shrine in Perryville, MO, and he
previously taught band at schools in southeastern Missouri.
Carlos Carvajal joins the Modern Languages and PE/Athletics Departments as Spanish teacher (levels II and IV) and track coach. Mr. Carvajal holds a bachelor’s degree in Spanish philology from Universidad de Costa Rica. He has taught for ten years,
most recently at St. Paul’s School in Concord, New Hampshire.
Martha Fischer ’91 returns to Burroughs to coach girls basketball, boys
and girls soccer and seventh and eighth grade physical education. She taught history and coached at Burroughs from 1998 to 2005, when she moved to New York to work as an
independent online media professional. Ms. Fischer holds a bachelor’s
degree in history from Vassar College.
Nelle Landholt joins the Development Office as an administrative assistant for
advancement. Ms. Landholt, who holds a bachelor’s degree in political
science from St. Louis University, comes most recently from The Kirk
Christian Day School, where she was director of the foreign language
program.
Valerie Michael joins the Science Department as a teacher of Science 7 and physics. Ms. Michael holds a
bachelor’s degree with a major in physics and minor in mathematics from
Florida Technological University. She earned her master’s degree in
teaching mathematics from Webster University. Ms. Michael retired from
the Parkway School District, where she taught physics for 28 years.
Megan O’Malley joins the PE/Athletics Department as a coach of girls lacrosse and basketball and teacher of
physical education and fitness. She holds a bachelor’s degree in
sociology from the University of Virginia, where she was a member of the
national championship lacrosse team.
Lexie Morrison divides her time between the Development Office,
where she will work with parent fundraising, and the PE/Athletics
Department, where she will serve as assistant field hockey and lacrosse
coach. Ms. Morrison holds a bachelor’s degree in art history from
Dartmouth College.
Allison Prabhakar student taught at Burroughs last spring. She returns to teach French 7, French I and French III. Ms.
Prabhakar holds a bachelor’s degree in French language and literature
from Smith College and a master’s degree in teaching from Washington
University.
Matthew Standish joins the Fine Arts Department to teach painting and drawing to students grades 7
-12 and also printmaking while Howard Jones is on sabbatical. Mr.
Standish holds a bachelor’s
degree in fine arts from the Herron School of Art and a master’s degree
in fine arts from Louisiana State University.
Jaclyn Yetter joins the Science Department to teach Science 8 and
chemistry. She holds a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from DePaul
University and a master’s degree in physical chemistry from the
University of Washington. Ms. Yetter comes to Burroughs from Edmonds
Community College (Seattle), where she taught chemistry for three years.
