National Merit Honors
The Class of 2012 claims 21 semifinalists In the National Merit Scholarship (NMS) competition. Congratulations to Trisha Bhat, Nick Goel, David Gu, Jason Gusdorf, Eunice Ko, George Li, Caroline Ludeman, Jing Qiu, Turner Rapp, Sam Schnabel, Sylvie Sherman, Jake Simpher, Elizabeth Soffer, Ady Steinbach, Ellen Swicord, Cameron Thomas, Madeleine Uelk, Mariel VanLandingham, Eileen Williams, Daniel Yee and Andy Zhou.
Another 16 seniors were commended in the program. They are Nathan Adams, Darcy Camp, Michael Epsten, Nora Kovacs, Nitai Melnick, Nathan Nguyen, Grace Renner, Austin Scharff, Alenna Schneider, Elan Shatoff, Amos Shinkle, Neerja Singh, Alex Spencer, Isabelle Stillman, Conor Tillinghast and Sandra Yamada.
Students were selected for these honors based on the high scores they achieved on the PSAT, which they took as juniors in the fall of 2010. Of the 50,000 high scorers (out of about 1.5 million high school juniors who took the test), 15,000 were selected as semifinalists and will advance to the next round of competition for scholarships.
