Science Olympiad Takes #2 in Regionals
The Burroughs Science Olympiad team placed at the Saint Louis Regional Tournament Saturday, February 26. The team repeated its second place finish (out of 10 teams) to Ladue. According to faculty sponsor Ike Irby, "Last year we lost by 42 points whereas Saturday, it came down to the suspense of the last event." Hats off to Ladue, which is the four-time reigning state champion and finished 21st at Nationals last year. The next competition will be the Missouri State Tournament on April 16th. Burroughs finished third at State last year. The top two teams from that tournament advance to the National Tournament. On the 26th, Burroughs medalled (that is, placed in the top four) in 21 of 23 events—more than any other school.
