Lil' Bomber Takes Second
Lil' Bomber, the robot designed and built by members of the JBS Robotics Club, took second place, narrowly missing the title, at the First Technology Challenge on February 26. The challenge required Lil' Bomber to navigate through a 12'x12' playing field, over elements that included a tilting bridge, a small mountain and ramps. The playing field had six dispensers, which held 15 batons. To score, Lil' Bomber retrieved the batons and dispensed them into either a stationary or rolling goal.
The team on the field was composed of two drivers, John Stegeman ’15 and Will Wolfe ’15, and a coach, Katie Smith ’11. Other team members are Seve Beaver ’13, Maggie Chapman ’11, Kyle Feldman ’11, Michael Gans ’11, Andrew Gelfman ’16, Spencer Hesse ’15, Joanne Hsueh ’14, David Hua ’13, Eli Levin ’11, Tommy McKone ’11, Will Nickerson ’14, Drew Port ’15, Emily Purvines ’11, Jason Roodman ’14, Will Smith ’11 and Alex Yuan ’16. Dan Barton (Industrial Technology) and Ted Stegeman, father of John ’15, are sponsors of the club.
