Rev. Billy Kyles' - A Visit with History

On Monday, February 16th, the Reverend Samuel Billy Kyles addressed members of the Burroughs and greater St. Louis communities. The next day, he spoke to students, faculty and staff during assembly, visited three history classes and held a standing room only open discussion with students.

A civil rights activist and leader in his own right, Reverend Kyles is the only person still living who shared the last hour of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s life. An Academy Award nominated film, The Witness—From the Balcony of Room 306, centers on Reverend Kyles and other members of the Civil Rights Movement at the time of King's assassination. Reverend Kyles shared that witness and discussed the power of dreams.

Here are some shots from his visit. A tape of Reverend Kyle's appearance at Burroughs will be posted on our web site later this week.
