Pedal the Cause

Due to the generosity of an anonymous underwriter and the commitment of time and pedaling power of 15 students and two faculty members, Team Burroughs made a great showing at the inaugural Pedal the Cause on Saturday, October 9. The bike ride raised funds for cancer research at St. Louis Children's Hospital, Barnes-Jewish Hospital, Siteman Cancer Center and the Cancer Frontier Fund, a foundation that provides seed money to new research projects.

Beginning at 8:00 am, our team of 8th graders Faraz Ahmad, Megan Camenzind, Eliza Johnson, Vaios Kouvelis, Sina McLin, Jordan Roodman and Elise Thomas; freshmen Rachael Eickmeyer and Hannah Rodgers; sophomore Nick Guo; juniors Will Bramlett and Sandra Yamada; seniors Maddie Brandt, Philip Dearing and Kyle Feldmann; and faculty Davey Desloge (PE/Athletics) and Andrew Newman (fine arts, school photographer, student activities) joined about 800 other bikers who pedaled throughout downtown St. Louis.

Here are some pictures courtesy of Andrew Newman who occasionally shot and pedaled simultaneously! The last two images include Deyana, the cancer patient with whom Team Burroughs partnered. If you'd like to "ride along" for a couple of seconds, check out the team's YouTube clip.

Donations are still welcome!
