Nashville Service Trip

Thirty-two students and 10 adults (including one alum and a current parent) participated in the spring break service trip to Nashville to help with the flood and tornado relief work through the United Methodist Committee on Relief. The group traveled by bus to the Nashville area and stayed in cabins at Camp Sycamore Creek which houses disaster relief teams and sponsors a free summer camp experience for groups of inner-city youths from Nashville. In addition to canvassing homes to check the status of residents in affected areas, our volunteers helped individual homeowners with flood/tornado cleanup, did some painting for a church that also houses relief workers, helped with organization and landscaping at a homeless shelter, and helped with maintenance, construction and wood-splitting at Camp Sycamore.
