Campus Candids
In Honor of Dr. King
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service, locally organized by the United Way of Greater St. Louis, gathered more than 1,000 people at 20 sites around the city to clean and paint homes and schools and to beautify neighborhoods. About 25 students and teachers from Burroughs joined the group, devoting their day off school to help in the effort. Their assignment: to scrape and paint the exterior of a neighborhood convenience store and to clean, move furniture and paint the interior of a soon-to-open adult day care center. Both sites were located on Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive on the city’s North Side. Diversity E.T.C. at Burroughs plans to make the Day of Service an annual event.
