German Exchange Program
Burroughs students participating in the 22-year-old German exchange program with Burroughs' sister school in Stuttgart immersed themselves in German language and culture during spring break. After first touring Munich, the eight student travelers and their teacher, Olga Russell, traveled to Stuttgart to meet the German families who would be hosting them for the next two weeks. Students attended classes with their German buddies at Ferdinand Porsche Gymnasium, and on several occasions the JBS students gave presentations in class about life at Burroughs, the two-party system in the U.S. and President Barack Obama. During their two weeks in Stuttgart, students made several excursions to nearby attractions including the Porsche Museum; a mineral bath; Maulbronn Abbey; the Mercedes Benz Museum; a famous chocolate factory; Strassbourg, France; and more. The students also toured Berlin and Prague, before returning home on April 3. For more about this year's trip, visit the blog that students wrote while traveling. Next spring, Burroughs will host a group of students from Ferdinand Porsche Gymnasium.
