Conduct: Be prompt, prepared, courteous, and curious.

Things to bring to class: writing utensils (please do tests in pen), paper for notes and quizzes, a binder or folder to store assignments, text books (please bring the one you did homework in to class, unless otherwise instructed).

Homework:
Reading: Read and think about the assignment. Be prepared to discuss the material for the day. Come with questions if the material confuses you.
Quizzes: You may be quizzed periodically on facts and interpretations, so be sure to have read and thought about the material for the day. Quizzes may be announced and otherwise. You will not make up quizzes if you are absent (see grades). Do not discuss quizzes (and tests) with people who have not taken them yet.
Writing: When an assignment is due, prepare it neatly in pen (or type it), title it, remove any edges, staple the pages together, writing can appear on both sides of the sheet, write your name on all the pages, and hand it to me at the beginning of class. Late homework will be penalized unless you have made prior arrangements with me 24 hours before it is due. I will subtract 1/20 of the point s of an assignment for every day that it is late (with a minimum of one point)--weekends count as two days. There are no penalties if you have an excused absence the day the assignment is due.

Grades: To assist me in evaluating your performance in this class you will do homework, take quizzes and tests, write papers, and participate in class discussions. Do not discuss grades with each other during class. If you have a question about a grade, please read and think about my comments for one day before discussing it with me.

Finding me: My schedule is posted in my room, and I will usually spend my free periods there. If one of these times does not fit your schedule, and your questions cannot be resolved by e-mail, please let me know and we will find another time. In emergencies, call me at home (636-230-3009), but please try to have your emergencies before 9pm.

Absences: If you are absent, you are responsible for obtaining class notes from another student. Check the box for this class for hand-outs. You may not make up quizzes, but you will make up tests. See me the day you return to school to schedule a make-up test. You will be expected to hand-in any homework due on the days you missed on the day you return. Please hand the assignment to me.
