Basic Sewing 8
(Required, grade 8; 2 periods/week, 1 semester)
Students in 8th grade sewing learn a variety of practical
skills using both hand and machine methods. They are required
to complete two projects, a patchwork pillow, which they design
and machine stitch, using fabric of their choice. The second project,
chosen from a broad range of commercial kits, incorporates curved
lines and difficult steps. The class atmosphere is relaxed and
noncompetitive and students are free to interact with their peers
while they work.
