Bridges Towards Equity & Justice
|
A letter from the Director of Diversity & Multicultural Education My primary responsibility is to lead the school's efforts as we seek a common language around which we can interpret and understand our relationship to each other and our world. In an increasingly global, multicultural society, this charge is quite broad and interpreted in many ways, but must include involvement with every constituency. We are fortunate to have faculty, staff, students and parents all actively engaged in this process. In addition to my work, our efforts include administrative direction from the Head of School, a Board of Trustees Diversity Committee and the Diversity Coordinator, Haliday Douglas (hdouglas at jburroughs.org). Implementation is further enhanced by programs like Diversity E.T.C. (Education Through Communication), adult and student Bridges groups, and new partnerships with our Community Service program and other student groups whose purpose falls under the diversity umbrella.
It is our desire to always stand available as a place where open minds can share resources for individual and community growth. It is further our hope that all embrace these efforts as part of the community spirit and tradition characteristic of the JBS experience. With that in mind, please feel free to contact us with any ideas, questions or suggestions about our programs or initiatives. We will consistently update the site with information about new and upcoming programs. Sincerely, Daniel M. Harris Director of Diversity & Multicultural Education
