Statement of purpose:

Our purpose is to unite people of different ethnicities, genders, religions, socioeconomic classes, ideologies, sexual orientations, ages, languages, appearances and geographical locations.  Our goal uniting these people is to educate us, as well as others, on diversity and how it plays a role at John Burroughs School and beyond.  We plan to achieve this objective through providing a comfortable atmosphere for group discussion on various issues.  As well as educating ourselves, we plan to promote diversity throughout our community by eliminating borders and prejudices.  By opening the lines of communication within the entire student body and faculty, we will better unite our school.  Diversity E.T.C. will aim to successfully achieve open and honest communication while being respectful to others and their ideologies, and accepting and understanding our differences as we do our commonalities.
