Elaine Childress joined the Burroughs faculty in 1987. She is the principal of 9th and 10th grades, a member of the science department (currently teaching earth science) and the coordinator of assemblies and exams.

Prior to coming to Burroughs, Childress taught for 13 years at Rosary High School (now Trinity). She holds a bachelor's degree in education and a master's in biology from University of Missouri-St. Louis. She is a recipient of the Outstanding Biology Teacher and Access Excellence Teacher Awards in Missouri.
