Bruno David Gallery Announces Its January 2008 Exhibitions

Group Exhibition
John Burroughs School

Bruno David Gallery and John Burroughs School are pleased to announce a group exhibition featuring artwork from forty-one of the school’s juniors and seniors.

The work represented in this show reflects the range of Burroughs’ visual arts curriculum, which includes painting and drawing, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, photography, and intensive studies.  The Fine Arts Department emphasizes “seeing” and then  working from observation; it promotes a respect for each individual's contribution; and it encourages students to have the confidence to pursue divergent or unfamiliar approaches.

Burroughs students have received several awards through the National K-12 Ceramics Exhibitions sponsored by the National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts and have had work represented in local shows for high school students.  A Burroughs  student is also currently a member of the Contemporary Art Museum's New Art in the Neighborhood program for high school students.

Students who have work represented in the show include: Austin Allison, Ally Asaro, Etty Ashall, Davis Camp, Chelsey Carter, Nicole Carter, Peter Cohen, John Dicken, Amanda Dupont, Pierre Guo, Robert Guyol, Steven Haro, Katie Holmes, Wendi Hu, Emma James, Bahja Johnson, Alex LaBarge, Claire Lampen, Kayle Leibold, Joanne Maliekel, Ioana Marcu, Parker Mastorakos, Annie McClorey, Julia Miller, Molly Moog, Michael Naclerio, Maggie Niesen, Martha O'Connell, Rachel Rothbarth, Abby Sandberg, Taylor Seabaugh, Abby Siwak, Jordan Stone, Meredith Stoner, Armani Tatum, Franny Toan, Anna Tripodi, Amy Wang, Morgan Weisman, Lauren Wepprich, and Katherine Wood.

The John Burroughs School fine arts faculty is comprised of Howard Jones (department chair and painting and drawing, printmaking, and photography instructor), Donya Allison (painting/drawing and printmaking instructor and director of the school’s professional Bonsack Gallery), Andrew Denney (ceramics instructor), Anne Martin (sculpture and ceramics instructor), and Andrew Newman (photography instructor and school photographer).

John Burroughs School is an independent, coeducational, college preparatory day school (grades 7 through 12) where a liberal arts education balances academics, the arts and athletics.
