PROGRESS & PROCESS

April 12, 2008

Dear JBS Community,

As previously reported, the JBS Search Committee has retained Educators' Collaborative (EC) as its consultant in the search for the next Head of School.  Jim Maggart and Kathy Betz from EC were on campus earlier this week meeting with several faculty, parents, students, alumni and trustees to become better acquainted with the school in order to prepare an Information for Candidates (IFC) document with detailed information about the school and the qualities that the school is looking for in its next Head of School.

The number of people whom the consultants were able to meet during their two-day visit was limited, but we would like to encourage everyone in the JBS community to share their thoughts with the consultants and the search committee by participating in a questionnaire.  This questionnaire was e-mailed to all parents, alumni, and parents of alumni for whom the school has an active e-mail address.

If you did not receive or did not respond to that e-mail, the survey can be accessed by clicking on the following link:

http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=LW5LV1HXlFtPTjARqN23OQ_3d_3d

Your responses to this very brief questionnaire will help the candidates understand the culture of the school, the challenges the school will face in the next few years, and the qualities and skills the next Head of School should possess in order to lead JBS going forward.

The search committee also welcomes your input in regard to potential candidates. Please send name(s) and contact information (e-mail and telephone) of potential candidates to Jim and Kathy.  A sentence or two about the individual(s) would be helpful to our consultants.

Thank you in advance for your participation in the search process.

Sincerely,

Todd R. Schnuck '77
Chair, Search Committee
