From the Alumni Association
If you ever attended Burroughs, you are a member of the JBS Alumni
Association.
The purpose of the Association is to support and contribute
to the Burroughs educational mission by fostering interest and involvement
in the school among alumni.
This is accomplished through the sponsorship of special
annual events to attract alumni involvement, the recognition
of alumni who have distinguished themselves through service, and
the volunteer support of the alumni
annual giving program.
The Association functions
through an 18-member Alumni Board. This year's Board
members represent classes from 1954 to 2000.
Here's a glimpse of
some of what we and the school do for alums...
JBS Alumni Directory and Listserve:
We now have an online
alumni directory to help maintain friendships
and develop new networks. If you have not received
instructions on how to log in, please contact
the Alumni Office to make sure they have your current mailing
address.
We sponsor a listserve for
all JBS alums to facilitate discussions about anything from
Burroughs memories to the latest headlines.
Class Reunions:
We help organize class reunions and encourage classes to hold reunions every fifth
year.
Alumni Events:
Every year the Board sponsors several alumni events including our annual alumni and faculty picnic (fall),
back-to-school night (winter), and golf tournament (spring). From time to time, the
headmaster also hosts receptions across the country for JBS
alumni.
Awards:
We annually honor alums for distinguished
service to Burroughs and outstanding service to mankind. If
you would like to nominate a fellow alum, please
contact us.
Annual Giving:
One of the Board's functions is to help Burroughs with its
Annual Giving campaign. The Board works closely with the Development
Office and with the Alumni Annual Giving Leadership Committee to
identify and recruit class agents and phonathon volunteers.
We welcome everyone's involvement
and input. In fact, this year we will randomly survey a sample
of alums for suggestions on programming (events) and services (listserve,
website, etc.) Please let us
know what you're thinking and if you would like to become
more involved!
