The math department emphasizes knowledge of the basic facts, principles and methods of mathematics along with the computational skills needed to apply them.

In addition to problem-solving skills, coursework develops the abilities to explore, make conjectures, reason logically and communicate mathematical ideas. Seventh graders are grouped according to placement test results. A two-track sequence, chosen by the student and parent(s) with advice from teachers, starts in grade 8. An honors program is offered in grades 11 and 12.
